| The Feed Mill was constructed in 1890 and the equipment to grind livestock feed was installed in the 1920's. The feed mill was always run with electricity and the motor can be seen in the rafters. While the mill is obsolete, it is still operational and has found a new use as a retail store. We have a common wall with Stone Mill Suites a Historic Inn.
Inside the building structure you will find feed mixers, grain augers, lags, and wooden pulleys. The farmers would bring their grain to the mill and it would be ground and minerals and proteins added. After mixing the feed was put in cloth bags and taken back home to be fed to the livestock. Of course this was a great place for the men to get together to socialize and work out the problems of the world. |
